Short description
Industrialist François Delambre is called late at night by his sister-in-law, Helene Delambre, who tells him that she has just killed her husband, André. Reluctant at first, she eventually explains to the police that André invented a matter transportation apparatus and, while experimenting on himself, a fly entered the chamber during the matter transference.

- The film was a huge success and also became Kurt Neumann's highest-grossing film. However, he never knew this, as he died a month after the premiere, a week before the film's wide release.
- Kurt Neumann exploited the fact that actress Pat Owens was afraid of insects by not showing her the fly makeup in advance.
- The screenplay for this film was the first cinematic work of screenwriter James Clavell, who later became famous for his novel 'Shōgun'.
- The lead role was initially offered to Michael Rennie, but he declined as he did not want to spend most of the film with his face obscured.
- The props for Delambre's laboratory cost the studio only $28,000.
- The film was included by Stephen King in his list of 100 most significant horror films from 1950 to 1980.
