What's left behind the scenes
- The role of David was offered to Tom Cruise, and the role of Sabrina to Winona Ryder. However, these characters were ultimately played by Greg Kinnear and Julia Ormond, respectively.
- Initially, Sydney Pollack (1934-2008) rejected the offer to direct a remake of Billy Wilder's (1906-2002) 1954 comedy-drama, finding the material too outdated for 1995. When he finally agreed to take on the project, the first thing he did was ask Wilder for his permission.
