Short description

What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the memoirs of John Bailey, the writer's husband.
- Judi Dench and Kate Winslet were both nominated for an Oscar for their performances as Muriel. This was the second time in the history of the award (and in Winslet's career) that two actresses were nominated for playing the same character, but in different age categories. The first such precedent was Winslet and Gloria Stuart’s nomination for the role of Rose in “Titanic” (1997).
