What's left behind the scenes

  • In Angela Carter’s original screenplay, Rosalyn was supposed to dive into the bedroom floor, which would then swallow her. Jordan liked this version, but financial constraints prevented such an expensive special effect.
  • Neil Jordan wanted Andy Warhol to play the devil. Warhol agreed, but was afraid to fly across the ocean. He wanted the scenes with him to be filmed in New York, but that was impossible. Ultimately, Jordan cast Warhol’s friend, Terence Stamp (uncredited), in the role of the devil.
