A film adaptation of James M. Barrie's novel “Peter Pan and Wendy”.
In 2000, the film was included in the National Film Registry.
James Barrie himself was personally involved in the casting. The role of Peter Pan was entrusted to actress Betty Bronson, and from that moment on, a tradition began for a long time of the role of Peter being played by a young actress. Barrie also planned to make a film with special effects and flights, but such filming proved too expensive for that time, so there are very few flights of the characters in the film.
Since film archives did not yet exist in the United States at that time, film companies stored most films only as long as their distribution brought profit, so almost all copies of the film had been destroyed by 1929. However, in 1995, a single film of satisfactory quality was still found and restoration began. James Card, who worked at George Eastman House, discovered the film, David Piers at The Walt Disney Company carried out the restoration, and Philip Carli composed new music for the film. The restored version of the film was presented to the audience at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood in 2001.
