Short description
When the beloved cellist of a world-renowned string quartet is diagnosed with a life threatening illness, the group's future suddenly hangs in the balance as suppressed emotions, competing egos and uncontrollable passions threaten to derail years of friendship and collaboration. As they are about to play their 25th anniversary concert — quite possibly their last — only their intimate bond and the power of music can preserve their legacy.
What's left behind the scenes
- The concert was filmed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the same location where the Guarneri Quartet gave their farewell concert after 45 years of performances.
- The scene featuring Christopher Walken and Catherine Keener in the building showcasing the Frick Collection was the first to display a private collection of old Western European paintings since it opened 75 years ago.
- Christopher Walken's character tells a story about two encounters with the famous cellist and conductor Pablo Casals (1876-1973). These encounters actually happened, but with another legendary performer, Grigory Piatigorsky (1903-1976), as stated in his autobiographical book 'Cellist'.
