Short description
Lewis, a brilliant young inventor, is keen on creating a time machine to find his mother, who abandoned him in an orphanage. Things take a turn when he meets Wilbur Robinson and his family.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Frankie and his group of singing frogs became the main characters in an advertisement encouraging the audience to turn off their mobile phones during the screening.
  • After a test screening specifically arranged for John Lasseter, he suggested numerous changes. About 60 percent of the cartoon was reworked ten months before the premiere, with new storylines and scenes added.
  • "Walt Disney Feature Animation" wanted to specifically emphasize that they were a separate division from "Pixar," and therefore renamed the company to "Walt Disney Animation Studios." "Meet the Robinsons" was the first animated film to feature the new "Walt Disney Animation Studios" logo.
  • The brain scanner on the poster for "Brain Invaders from Mars" looks almost exactly like Doris.
  • Jim Carrey was offered the role of Bowler, but he declined, preferring to star in "The Number 23" (2007).
  • In the background of the scene where Hub plays baseball, two posters can be seen. The first is for "The Jungle Book" (1967), and the second is for "Toy Story 2" (1999).
  • Doris's full name is DOR-15.
  • One of the drawings in Lewis's room depicts Nikola Tesla.
  • Todayland Park is a tribute to Tomorrowland, the futuristic part of Disney parks.
  • The cartoon is based on William Joyce's book 'A Day with Wilbur Robinson'.
  • The Robinsons' house is located on a hill very similar to the 'Windows XP' default wallpaper, Bliss.
  • The following attractions from Disneyland can be spotted in the film: 'Space Mountain', 'Rocket Jets', and 'People Mover'.
  • A photograph of Walt Disney can be seen in the shelter.
  • "Meet the Robinsons" was the first animated film from Walt Disney Studios in several recent decades, and was preceded by a short film. This used to be a common practice for the studio.
