Short description
Mr. Bean wins a trip to Cannes where he unwittingly separates a young boy from his father and must help the two reunite. On the way he discovers France, bicycling and true love, among other things.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Long before the film's release, Rowan Atkinson announced that "Mr. Bean's Holiday" would be his last appearance as the character.
  • Originally, the film's creators intended for Mr. Bean to travel to Australia, not France.
  • In one of the shots where Mr. Bean's passport is visible, you can make out his name – Rowan, just like the actor's.
  • The girl who plays the cassette recorder before the lottery winners are announced (Lily at the stereo) is Lily Atkinson, the daughter of Rowan Atkinson.
  • The official premiere of the film in the UK took place on March 25th at the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square, London. All proceeds from it went to the British charities Comic Relief and Oxford Children's Hospital Appeal.
  • The girl who turns on the tape recorder before the lottery winners are announced (Lily at the stereo) is Lily Atkinson, Rowan Atkinson's daughter.
  • In the scene where Sabine, played by Emma de Caunes, falls asleep in the car and then begins to snore, the snoring is the actress's real snoring. She asked director Steve Bendelack to make her look as believable as possible, and also to give her something to help her fall asleep. She was given a sleeping pill and promised that everything would be realistic. The actress herself was unaware that she snored in her sleep and was very embarrassed to see the resulting scene.
