Since the election of Narendra Modi in 2014, India, under the influence of Hindutva, a nationalist ideology that claims the primacy of Hindus, has tipped over into an ethno-religious authoritarian regime. While members of minorities are treated as second-class citizens, or even enemies from within, militias of young Hindu extremists, with the blessing of the authorities, are waging a reign of terror. Through the testimonies of victims and Hindutva supporters alike, this investigation documents the nationalist fever that has gripped the world's largest democracy.
