Dennis Hopper's last project. The actor passed away before the cartoon was released. The cartoon is dedicated to the memory of Hopper.
The actors, as well as directors Anthony Bell with Ben Gluck, and the rest of the cartoon's creative team, actually performed all the scenes written in the script in front of the camera, after which the footage was sent to Mumbai, India, where it was animated.
The main characters are named Humphrey and Kate. This is how the actors who played Charlie and Rose – the main characters of John Huston's adventure drama 'The African Queen' (1951) – were named. These roles were played by Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn.
Screenwriter and producer Steve Moore initially wanted to make the plot darker and more serious, but Lionsgate instructed him to rewrite the script and make it more suitable for a children's audience.
