What's left behind the scenes
- A greenhouse was built on the island of Tenerife, where real plants were planted and a functioning irrigation system was installed.
- Director Fléor Fortune and the film's artist, Jean Ullevig, specifically avoided using wooden furniture and wooden decorative elements on set because, during the historical period depicted in the film, forests had already disappeared from the world. Everything is made of glass and concrete and is designed in a retro 1970s style.
- According to Elizabeth Olsen (who plays Mia), she read Michel Houellebecq's 2005 science fiction novel 'The Possibility of an Island' while working on the film.
