• Unlike many anime, the characters' lips move in accordance with the lines spoken in English.
• Doc is voiced by Jim Burns, who played Joe Dawson in the television series “Highlander” (1992-1998). Doc is missing a leg below the knee, which is a reference to the voice actor – in the 1970s, Burns lost both legs below the knee when he was hit by a car. This detail was written into the script of the television series (where it was stated that Dawson lost his legs in Vietnam). Burns also voiced the bartender, which is also a reference to the television series, where Dawson owned a bar.
• The American version of the film is shorter than the Japanese one. According to producer Gaylen Walker, seven or eight scenes were cut to maintain the narrative pace, and director Yoshiaki Kawajiri was very unhappy about this. In addition, the American version added a scrolling text introduction, typical of films in the Highlander franchise.
