What's left behind the scenes

  • A scene shown in one of the trailers, featuring Jason sharpening a machete, was not included in the theatrical version of the film.
  • The word 'Fuck' is used 95 times in the film.
  • Derek Mears, who played Jason, spent three hours in makeup every day.
  • The film was shot in Texas.
  • Actress Willa Ford prepared for the wakeboarding scene for ten days. The actress had never done anything like it before.
  • Actress Wille Ford was given 10 days to learn how to wakeboard for her role.
  • Richard Burgi was approved for the role of the sheriff less than 12 hours before filming began on scenes with that character.
  • Victor Miller – who was a screenwriter for the original film "Friday the 13th" (Sean S. Cunningham, 1980) – stated that the script for this film was written in such a way that the film could be considered more of a sequel than a remake, because he could be paid less for a sequel script. This explains why the film's plot is a kind of mixture of the plots of the first four films, rather than a retelling of the original film. Miller had begun working on a remake script, but it only amounted to four minutes of screen time, so when he sued, he lost the case and received a fee as for a sequel. He was subsequently unpleasantly surprised to find that the film was advertised specifically as a remake.
  • Producers Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller initially approached Adrienne King (who played the main character in the 1980 film) with an offer to play a cameo role, but a couple of days later they abandoned this idea and called her to say they didn't want anyone from the original film's cast in the remake.
  • America Olivo was finishing filming Rick Jacobson's crime action film "Bitch Fight" (2009) when she was offered a role in "Friday the 13th," which someone had dropped at the last moment. Olivo was asked to quickly film herself in a scene for the future horror film, send it to Michael Bay via email (Bay was one of the film's producers). She did so. At three in the morning, she was told she had been cast and ordered to fly to Texas urgently and begin filming.
  • The first "Friday the 13th" film to feature weapons (such as a machete) created using digital technology. The reason was that the use of prop weapons was considered too dangerous, as they could break and injure the actors.
