What's left behind the scenes

The screenplay was based on Paul Brickhill’s book *The Dam Busters* (published in Russia as *Flood Germany!*) and the memoirs of Guy Gibson, *Enemy Coast Ahead*.
Richard Todd, who played the main role, participated in the airborne assault during the Normandy landings in 1944.
The musical theme composed by Eric Coates, ("The Dam Busters March”), was used in George Lucas’s film *Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope*. The film also contains numerous references to *The Dam Busters*, and the scene of the attack on the Death Star almost exactly replicates the film’s climactic moment.
In 2007, the film was restored, and all references to the dog’s politically incorrect nickname were removed. Paul Brickhill’s book was originally also titled *Nigger!*.
This film appears in Alan Parker's musical film "The Wall" (1982) during the song One of My Turns, when the main character Pink trashes a hotel room.
