What's left behind the scenes
- Shailene Woodley turned down the role of Carrie White. Hayley Bennett, Dakota Fanning, Emily Browning, Lily Collins, and Bella Heathcote auditioned. Ultimately, Chloë Grace Moretz landed the lead role.
- Jodie Foster was considered for the role of Margaret White.
- Stephen King suggested casting Lindsay Lohan in the lead role.
- Ivana Baquero was originally cast as Chris Hargensen, but was replaced by Portia Doubleday.
- The tagline “You’ll know her name” is a reference to the final lyrics of a song from the Broadway musical “Carrie” (“Someday, someone will know my name!”).
- This story might never have seen the light of day if King’s wife hadn’t saved one of the early drafts from the trash. King seriously doubted that the story would be strong and emotional enough. King himself recalled in his memoirs: “She fished the pages out of the wastebasket, brushed cigarette ash off the crumpled paper, smoothed them out, and sat down to read. Then she told me she wanted me to continue the story. She wanted to know how it would end.”
- Filming took place in Toronto in the summer of 2012.
- The poem that Carrie reads in English class is an excerpt from John Milton’s poem “Samson Agonistes” (1671).

- In one of the deleted scenes, which is present in the book, however, little Carrie sees a neighbor girl’s 'dirty pillows,' and as Carrie's mother begins to scold and take the child away, it starts to hail. At this point, Margaret (the mother) says: 'Stop it.'
- Carrie's hair position changes after a cut in the following scenes: when her mother wakes her up in the closet; when she tucks her hair behind her ear upon entering the library; during her conversation with her gym teacher about the prom; when her mother attacks her with a knife.
- The destruction of the house on which stones fall from the sky was done digitally. To achieve this, a real-life model of the house was scanned with a laser scanner, then 6500 photographs were taken and combined.
- When Carrie practices her telekinetic abilities on the bathroom mirror, it's clear that the shards of the mirror fall to the floor, but in the next shot, there are no shards on the floor.
- The stain from Carrie's bloody hand, left on the physical education teacher's skirt, initially appears as a blot, which is visible in the shower scene. But in the scene in the principal's office, it's already an imprint of a full palm, located higher on the skirt than the spot Carrie initially grabbed.
- In the scene of Carrie's birth, the umbilical cord disappears after a cut.
- When Carrie first uses her abilities to lift her mother from the floor, the position of Carrie's hands changes between shots.
- The blood in Carrie's eyes shifts position between shots as she attacks her classmates in the gymnasium.
- Immediately after Chris slits the pig's throat, bloodstains disappear from her forehead.
- When Carrie tries to wash the blood off herself in the bathroom and begins to cry, her left hand is seen covered in blood. After a cut, both of her hands appear clean.
- Carrie's position and facial expression change abruptly between shots in the scene where she talks to her gym teacher about the prom.
- When Tommy asks Carrie to the prom for the second time, the position of the cross around Carrie's neck changes between shots.
