Texas Ranger Roland Sharp is assigned to protect the only witnesses to the murder of a key figure in the prosecution of a drug kingpin -- a group of University of Texas cheerleaders. Sharp must now go undercover as an assistant cheerleading coach and move in with the young women.
What's left behind the scenes
- For filming, the actresses trained with real cheerleaders from a university.
- The film's finale was reshot several months after work on the film itself was completed, as the creators had been unable to decide what it should be until then.
- Tommy Lee Jones refused to use prop weapons and brought his own "Colt M1911" to the set.
- Initially, Roland Sharp (the character played by Tommy Lee Jones) was supposed to be an FBI agent working in Virginia, but after reading the script, Jones suggested changing Virginia to Texas. The producers agreed, and since the story was now taking place in Texas, they made Jones' character a Texas Ranger.
