Short description
Jordan White and Amy Blue, two troubled teens, pick up an adolescent drifter, Xavier Red. Together, the threesome embarks on a sex and violence-filled journey through a United States of psychos and quickie marts.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was shot in January 1995 – almost entirely at night and in remote areas of Los Angeles. The footage from the first day was accidentally ruined in development, and an earthquake occurred on the second day of filming.
  • Rose McGowan landed the role in the film by casually running into director Gregg Araki near a gym.
  • Jordan Ladd was initially cast in the role of Amy, played by Rose McGowan, but her mother, Cheri Ladd, objected at the last moment (disliking the amount of sex and nudity the role entailed). This is signaled by the absence of Cheri Ladd's name in the credits' acknowledgments section and Jordan Ladd's inclusion among those receiving special thanks. Director Gregg Araki and Cheri Ladd later became friends, and Jordan Ladd appeared in his 1997 film, 'Nowhere'.
  • The names of the main characters – Amy Blue and Jordan White – were inspired by Mark Beyer’s early 1990s comic 'Amy and Jordan,' whose characters frequently found themselves in dangerous or grotesque situations.
