In one of the scenes, Amy's parents are watching the film "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935) on television.
The first scene of the film is entirely copied from the opening scene of John Carpenter's classic "Halloween" from 1978.
During filming, an incident occurred when a carousel with several passengers was not turned off in time, and the ride, which typically lasts four minutes, continued operating for about half an hour. Passengers on the carousel began to feel nauseous, and when the ride finally stopped, some complained of muscle spasms and were unable to walk on their own. The administration called an ambulance, but fortunately, there were no serious consequences.
Initially, it was planned that special effects and makeup artist Rick Baker would play one of the roles, but then director Tobe Hooper (1943-2017) saw a mime performance by Wayne Dobbie and gave him the role instead.
