What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the comic book of the same name.
- In the early stages of the film's creation, Vince Vaughn was considered for the role of Bobby, and Owen Wilson for the role of Stig.
- Ellen Pompeo and Marisa Tomei were considered for the role of Deb.
- The trailer features the song “Die by the Drop” by The Dead Weather. This same song was previously used in the trailer for Baltasar Kormákur’s film “Contraband” (2011), which also starred Mark Wahlberg.
- David O. Russell, Doug Liman, Antoine Fuqua, Pierre Morel, and Martin Campbell were considered as the project's director.
- When the CIA agent kills Bobby's boss, his dead body lies next to the table. A few shots later, the body is lying in the doorway leading to the dining room.
- When Earl plays Russian roulette with Bobby, the bullets change position on the table between shots.
- The fishing tackle shop where Stig's friend works and where he and Bobby meet after the escape is clearly not located in Texas. A neon beer sign in the window is prohibited by Texas law.
- When Bobby and Stig enter Texas from Mexico, they cross the Rio Grande River, which flows from right to left relative to their direction of travel. However, the Rio Grande flows eastward along this border, and therefore should flow from left to right as they head north.
- When Bobby is holding Quinn in his office, Quinn's armed aide enters. American military personnel generally do not carry weapons holstered while on base.
- Earl tells Papa that he could arrange an attack with Apache A-6 helicopters. The A-6 is a jet fighter, while the Apache helicopter is designated as the AH-64.
- In the scene where Bobby chases Stig, who kidnapped Poppy, the condition of Bobby's Ford changes. After the first collision, both headlights are broken, and when they cross the river, the right headlight is whole again. However, when Bobby and Stig collide at the end of the chase, both headlights are broken again.
- When Bobby delivers a red 1964 Chevrolet Impala filled with money to the CIA agent and hands over the car keys, Stig stands leaning on a black Dodge Challenger while Bobby walks from the Chevrolet towards him. After a change of shot, Bobby and Stig walk together away from the red car.
