What's left behind the scenes
- Each song used in the film was rewritten at least 5 times.
- Filming the scene to the song “Bet On It” took six days.
- Here, Zac Efron sings himself, unlike the first film (Kenny Ortega, 2006), where Andrew Seeley often sang for him.
- Before filming this movie, Monica Coleman couldn't swim and was afraid of water. The scene where her character jumps into the pool had to be rewritten so that Corbin Bleu's character jumped with her.
- Whenever an actor hits a golf ball towards the camera with a club, they are actually hitting ping pong balls. This is noticeable in the scene accompanied by “Bet On It,” as the ball Troy hits has no dimples. During the filming of this scene, Zac Efron hit members of the crew and other people several times, not to mention the equipment. If those had been real golf balls, people could have been injured and the filming equipment could have been broken.
- To give the schoolyard a more “spring-like” appearance, the grass had to be painted bright green.
- The group of people doing “the wave” to the sound of “What Time Is It” included the film’s cast, dancers, and director Kenny Ortega. The actors and dancers were already tired from countless rehearsals, so they sat on the floor and started giving each other massages. When Ortega saw this, he asked everyone to lean to the left (one at a time), and they did. Then he suggested they do the same thing while standing, which they did, and this scene was included in the film during the performance of the first song.
- The actors had three weeks of dance rehearsals before filming began.
