What's left behind the scenes
- The first toy troll was created in 1958 by Thomas Dam (1909-1986) from Denmark.
- This is the first musical animated film from DreamWorks Animation since the release of «The Road to El Dorado» (Bibo Bergeron, Will Finn, and Don Paul, 2000).
- This is the fifth DreamWorks Animation film with a screenplay by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, who also wrote the screenplays for «Kung Fu Panda» (Mark Osborne and John Stevenson, 2008), «Kung Fu Panda 2» (Jennifer Yuh, 2011), «Kung Fu Panda 3» (Jennifer Yuh and Alessandro Carloni, 2016), and «Monsters vs. Aliens» (Conrad Vernon and Rob Letterman, 2009).
- While escaping the Bergen town at the beginning of the film, the trolls leave behind wooden figures that strongly resemble the first trolls created by Thomas Dam.
