What's left behind the scenes

Director, screenwriter, and producer Craig Brewer, who saw the documentary "Song Sung Blue" at the Indie Memphis Film Festival in Memphis in 2008, sent an email to its director, Greg Kohs, in 2023 requesting permission to remake the film. Kohs became one of the screenwriters for the 2025 film.
