Short description
Joong-ho is a dirty detective turned pimp in financial trouble as several of his girls have recently disappeared without clearing their debts. While trying to track them down, he finds a clue that the vanished girls were all called up by the same client whom one of his girls is meeting with right now.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on real events – the crimes of the serial killer and cannibal Yoo Yeong-cheol. From 2003 to 2004, in the Seoul districts of Mapo, Gangnam, and Jongno, he committed murders of prostitutes and wealthy elderly people. The criminal was arrested on July 15, 2004, confessed to the murder of 21 people, and was sentenced to death on December 13, 2004. Although the death penalty is legal in South Korea, it has not been carried out since 1997, so the serial killer effectively received a life sentence.
- Filming took place mainly in the Manwong district of the Mapo district of Seoul.
- When the hero Ha Jung-woo flees from pursuit down an alley, he slips and almost falls, but continues running. This was not in the script, and the actor simply slipped, but director Na Hong-jin liked the take and decided to include it in the film.
