Actors and characters

Among the actors considered for the role of Steve Rogers were Dolph Lundgren and Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, Lundgren was filming another comic book hero movie – “The Punisher,” and Schwarzenegger was deemed unsuitable due to his German accent.
Captain America’s costume was made of thick rubber, with many linings, and it was completely airtight. Filming took place in Yugoslavia, and the temperature often rose to 40 degrees Celsius, making filming very difficult for the lead actor, Matt Salinger.
The original mask had openings for the ears, but they chafed, so plastic ears had to be used instead.
Captain America is chained to the rocket without his shield. When he is found in Alaska, he is with his shield.
