Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson, along with a team of three, spent 14 months traveling to 24 countries to film this amazing movie.
The film was shot using a very expensive, large-format TODD-AO 70mm camera. For this, Ron Fricke created a special computer system that allowed him to capture incredible, time-stretched shots.
Baraka is an ancient Persian word meaning “blessing” or “beatitude”.
The first film with 8,000 resolution, made from the original 65mm negative. At the time of filming, there was only one scanner in the world capable of such capture.
Director Ron Fricke invented a special camera for filming this movie because he found IMAX cameras too cumbersome.
In the end credits, in the list of filming locations, Vatican City is listed as a location in Italy. In reality, it is a separate state, even though Vatican City is entirely within Italy.
Baraka is an ancient Persian word meaning "good deed," "bliss."
