Short description
When 17-year-old Makoto Konno gains the ability to, quite literally, "leap" backwards through time, she immediately sets about improving her grades and preventing personal mishaps. However, she soon realises that changing the past isn't as simple as it seems, and eventually, will have to rely on her new powers to shape the future of herself and her friends.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on Yasutaka Tsutsui's novel "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" (Toki o Kakeru Shojo, 1967).
- Initially, the film was released in only a few cinemas in Japan. Its promotional campaign wasn't particularly active, but rumors about the film spread with incredible speed. This resulted in the film consistently playing to full houses, with some screenings even being overbooked. Subsequently, Kadokawa Herald Pictures took unprecedented measures to increase the number of cinemas in Japan showing the film and submitted copies of the film to several international film festivals.
