What's left behind the scenes

  • Rithik Roshan could have played the role of Lucky, but director Farah Khan wanted a less popular actor for the part.
  • Shah Rukh Khan walked along the wall himself, without a stunt double, and did so secretly from the director and screenwriter, Farah Khan. She had categorically forbidden him from performing this stunt (due to an old back injury) and even threatened to tell the actor's wife, Gauri Khan, about it.
  • Farah Khan wanted Naseeruddin Shah to play the role eventually played by Sunil Shetty, but he was busy filming Steven Norrington's science fiction action film "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (2003) at the time, so he only agreed to play the father of Shah Rukh Khan's character. They then considered offering the same role to Kamal Haasan, but his filming schedule was full, and the role was offered to Nana Patekar. He agreed, but then began demanding changes to the script, which Farah Khan was unwilling to make. Only then did she turn to Sunil Shetty.
  • Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan had been contemplating this film since 2000. Filming began in 2001, but the production was hampered by the actor's injury and other difficulties.
