The main scenes of the film were shot in Mexico City, Mexico.
In the film, the main characters are searching for the Spear of Destiny, also known as the Spear of Longinus.
The reconstruction of the Great Pyramid of Giza in the museum contains significant historical inaccuracies: there was no ceremonial entrance to the tomb (the only above-ground passage, located several meters from the base, was carefully concealed with masonry), the funerary temple was not located inside the pyramid, but nearby, therefore there could be no hall of columns within it; the pyramid's apex – the mythical primeval mound Benben – had no vertical shafts or passages beneath it (only two narrow diagonal tunnels open onto the faces of the pyramid), and no inscriptions are found in the tombs of the pharaohs of the Fourth Dynasty (to which Khufu belongs).
