He created the storyboard in advance, but when Indy was brought to the set, he had to adapt to the new conditions. Leonberg, his wife, and the film's producer, Carrie Fisher, specifically did not train Indy for filming, relying on voice cues, gestures, and rewards. Indy loves carrots, but he wasn't treated to carrots during filming, as his enthusiasm wouldn't fit the atmosphere of the film.
