Short description
By the year 2056, an epidemic of organ failures has devastated the planet. The megacorporation GeneCo provides organ transplants on a payment plan - and those who can’t fulfill their plans have their organs repossessed. In the midst of this, a sickly teenager discovers a shocking secret about herself, her father, and their connection to GeneCo.
What's left behind the scenes
- The musical began with small numbers called ten-minute operas, which Terrence Zdunich and Darren Smith presented on stage.
- In the original stage productions, The Confiscator wore a wide-brimmed hat instead of a helmet, Blind Meg was African American, and Largo’s daughter was named Heather.
- Darren Lynn Bousman spent several years trying to get permission to film the musical. Eventually, he, Terrence Zdunich, and Darren Smith gathered a small group of actors and filmed a ten-minute film, with which they finally managed to interest producers.
- In the scene where Pavi first appears, the face worn on him is actually a cast of Darren Lynn Bousman’s girlfriend’s face.
- Darren Lynn Bousman cast Anthony Head as The Confessor after being impressed by his performance in 'Once More, with Feeling' from the musical 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'.
