• This is the seventh film in which Antonio Banderas has worked with Pedro Almodóvar, and the fifth in which he has starred with Penélope Cruz. However, all three of them worked together for the first time.
• The name of the Chavela Blanca airplane is a nod to Pedro Almodóvar's favorite singer and friend, Chavela Vargas, as well as another of his friends, Blanca Sánchez. The airline name, Peninsula, is written in abbreviated form on the plane's wing as Pe, which is a well-known nickname for Penélope Cruz.
• As in most of Pedro Almodóvar's films, his brother Agustín Almodóvar appeared in a cameo role in this film. He played the airport dispatcher at the end of the movie.
• Alberto San Juan could have played one of the roles.
• There are two blunders in the 28th minute of the film: Ricardo (Guillermo Toledo) calls Alba (Paz Vega), she answers the call and speaks to him, but when the frame transitions to a close-up of Alba’s face, it is visible that her phone is not in call mode, but in standby mode. We can see call mode a few seconds later when Alba drops the phone. And immediately after, there’s a second blunder – the screen shows the call duration as 01:28, although they are actually talking for no more than 34 seconds.
