What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming of the sequel began on September 14, 2012, at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. The building, completed for the 1976 Summer Olympics, like many multi-purpose stadiums built in the seventies, is used relatively rarely. Its concrete vaults resemble a bunker, making it a perfect fit for the role of a secret MI-6 headquarters.
  • Filming in Montreal lasted 14 days, and among the locations was a mansion depicting Frogs’ Parisian residence. It was built in 1914 by architect Jean-Omer Marchand on Wood Street, in the fashionable Westmount district.
  • Most of the Parisian filming revolved around a car chase. The scene takes place on a bridge east of Notre Dame Cathedral. An old Citroën was specially adapted to drive down the steps directly to the Seine.
  • The interiors of the Kremlin were created in one of the docks in East London. The building, constructed in the early eighteenth century as a warehouse for tobacco brought from the New World, served as a shopping center in recent years until it closed several years ago. The basement floor with brick vaults perfectly conveyed the gloomy atmosphere needed for this scene.
  • Brian Cox (1 film) and Anthony Hopkins (3 films) have portrayed Hannibal Lecter in film adaptations of Thomas Harris's novels: "Manhunter" (1986), "The Silence of the Lambs" (1990), "Red Dragon" (2002), and "Hannibal" (2001).
  • The Kremlin clock shows 12:24 for the first time (1:08:09 in the film), 12:18 the second time (1:08:16 in the film), and 9:38 the third time (1:08:22 in the film).
