The umbrella dance was originally planned to be filmed with water pouring down, as during a rainstorm, and the girls were supposed to dance in the water. However, due to the risk of falls, this idea was abandoned.
During post-production, two storylines were removed from the film (they remained in the DVD and Blu-ray versions). One involved Dana becoming pregnant and then suffering a miscarriage, which explains how Lauren ended up in third place and the lack of complaints from Dana. Brooke was supposed to have more lines regarding the audition. In the end, she was left with only two lines.
