Short description
Monroe Hutchens is the heavyweight champion of Sweetwater, a maximum security prison. He was convicted to a life sentence due to a passionate crime. Iceman Chambers is the heavyweight champion, who lost his title due to a rape conviction to ten years in Sweetwater. WHen these two giants collide in the same prison, they fight against each other disputing who is the real champion.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film was shot in two active prisons in the state of Nevada. The fight scene was organized at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
- Wing Rames had been getting into shape for two years for a role in another boxing legend biopic, but something fell through, the role went to another actor, and Rames was sent the script for this film, where he was approved for the role and simply continued training.
- Preparing for the role, Wesley Snipes trained with Steward Emmanuel (1944-2012), who was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame and worked with, among others, Thomas Hearns and Lennox Lewis.
