What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the graphic novel Le Bleu est une couleur chaude by Julie Maroh.
- Over 800 hours of footage was shot for the film.
- At the Cannes Film Festival, the film received two Palme d'Or awards. This marked the first time in history that two actors had received the award, as it had previously only been given to directors.
- It took 10 days to shoot one of the sex scenes.
- Towards the end of the film, before going to Emma's exhibition, Adele paints her nails with red nail polish. However, later it can be noticed that her nails are not painted.
- Filming took place from March 9 to August 24, 2012.
