In 2003, Jean-Claude Van Damme was working on a sequel to Steven E. de Souza’s original film for Universal Pictures. The project was to be called *Street Fighter 2*. It was intended that some actors from the original film and Dolph Lundgren, with whom Van Damme had worked on Roland Emmerich’s *Universal Soldier* (1992), would participate. Kylie Minogue would have been replaced by Australian actress Holly Valance, and Damian Chapa would have reprised his role from the first film. Rumors circulated that negotiations were also underway with Byron Mann. However, the sequel never materialized.
