Short description
Five medical students want to find out if there is life after death. They plan to stop one of their hearts for a few seconds, thus simulating death, and then bring the person back to life.
What's left behind the scenes
- The action of the film mostly takes place in operating rooms, laboratories, at the bedsides of the dying, and in the morgue. Almost the entire film was shot in twilight half-tones or night landscapes.
- The film was shot in Chicago.
- Val Kilmer turned down the role of Nelson, which was eventually played by Kiefer Sutherland.
- Nicole Kidman was considered for the role of Rachel Mannus.
- Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland began dating during filming. They even got engaged, but Roberts later called off the engagement.
