What's left behind the scenes

  • The boy in the prologue was played by Joe King, Stephen King's actual son.
  • The same ashtray appears in all five episodes.
  • Instead of larvae in the eyes of the zombies from the first episode, "Rice Krispies" were used – an analogue of our "corn sticks." At the end of the episode "The Lonely Death of Jordy Verrill," a road sign for "Castle Rock" is visible – a fictional town that King frequently uses in his works.
  • Ted Danson, who played Harry Wentworth in the episode "That's All You Need," recounted in one television interview that his young daughter showed up on set just as they were filming the scene where he plays a half-decayed, seaweed-covered zombie. He tried his best to avoid meeting his child, so as not to scare her. However, despite all his efforts, the girl noticed him, walked up, and said: "Oh, Dad! Hello!"
  • All the furniture used in the episode "They Crawl Toward You" was donated to the Salvation Army after filming, complete with the cockroaches infesting it.
  • The characters Tabitha and Richard from the episode "The Box" are named after the author’s wife, Tabitha King, and "Richard Bachman" – Stephen King’s pen name.
  • In the episode "The Lonely Death of Jordy Verrill," a moss-covered Stephen King is watching the film "How Green Was My Valley" (dir. John Ford, 1941) on television.
  • The comic book "Kaleidoscope of Horrors" featured in the film was drawn by artist Jake Caymen, whose work inspired Romero and King to create this film.
  • The idea for "The Lonely Death of Jordy Verill" came to King while listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival's song "It Came Out of the Sky".
  • The Italian version of the film does not include the "The Lonely Death of Jordy Verill" segment, while the German version omits the "The Crate" segment.
