What's left behind the scenes

  • A rather curious incident occurred during filming in Rome. Brad Pitt and George Clooney were unable to enter the hotel because the doorman was convinced they were just vagrants. The actors were caught in a downpour and didn't look like themselves.
  • Some scenes that were supposed to be filmed in Amsterdam according to the plot were actually shot in Harlem (specifically 20 km from it).
  • The storyline developed by screenwriter George Nolfi was originally intended for one of John Woo's films. After a decision was made to create a sequel, the producers of Warner Bros. asked George to rewrite the script for the characters of "Ocean's Eleven" (2001).
  • During filming in Sicily, the entire local security force was put on high alert as members of the Sicilian Mafia were spotted near the filming location.
  • Steven Soderbergh insisted that the same budgetary funds be allocated to the making of the film as were allocated to the first film – "Ocean's Eleven" (2001).
  • Yen was hidden in a bag with the logo of the English football club "Arsenal".
  • Vincent Cassel was fond of the martial art of capoeira, demonstrating his skills in a dance under laser installations.
  • Bruce Willis, appearing in a cameo in the film, was supposed to play Ocean in the first film of the trilogy, but was forced to decline due to scheduling conflicts.
  • Brad Pitt's character's phone is a Siemens S65. The ringtone is the song "Pretty in Pink" by the Psychedelic Furs.
  • The "branch manager Molly Starr" who appears at the end of the film is clearly a reference to Clarice Starling from "The Silence of the Lambs" (1990).
  • Julia Roberts was genuinely pregnant during the filming of the movie.
  • Detainees in the holding cells do not part with items such as necklaces, ties, shoelaces, rings, and belts.
  • Europol headquarters is located in The Hague, not in Amsterdam as depicted in the film.
  • The plotline developed by screenwriter George Nolfi was actually intended for one of John Woo's films. After a decision was made to create a sequel, the producers of Warner Bros. asked George to rewrite the script for the characters in "Ocean's Eleven" (2001).
  • Brad Pitt's character's phone is a Siemens S65. The ringtone is the song "Pretty in Pink" by The Psychedelic Furs.
  • The "branch manager Molly Starr" who appears at the end of the film is clearly a nod to Clarice Starling from "The Silence of the Lambs" (1990).
