The role of Jack was offered to Steven Baldwin, William Baldwin, Johnny Depp, Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, Jeff Bridges, and Tom Hanks, but they all turned it down.
Renny Harlin and Quentin Tarantino both declined to direct the film.
