The film was shot over six months – from May 21st to September 27th, 1979.
The special effects for the film were created by the renowned Italian film master Mario Bava, who passed away immediately after finishing work on the film.
A memorial plaque hangs on the house in New York where the events of the film took place, with the following text: “G. GURDJIEFF 1877—1949 RESIDED HERE DURING THE YEAR 1924”. Translated into Russian: “G. Gurdjieff 1877—1949 lived in this house in 1924”.
Gabriel Lavia’s character is named Carlo, the same name as his character in another Argento film, “Blood Red,” from 1975.
