The childhood photos of James and his father in the opening credits are genuine family photographs of Colin Farrell.
In the film, Colin Farrell wears a TAG Heuer Kirium F1 watch.
The idea for the scene where the character played by Colin Farrell tells girls in a bar that he "just got out of prison" came from the actor himself. He said that he once used that line to pick up a girl at a bar, and it worked. The producers liked the improvisation, and the line made it into the film.
During the filming of the scene where the characters of Colin Farrell and Al Pacino go to a restaurant, Al Pacino accidentally damaged the car they were driving in. This is clearly visible when he parks in front of the restaurant.
The computer code shown in the film is simply a meaningless set of characters.
The final scene of the film was shot in what was presented as an "abandoned warehouse" – the same location where Rob Marshall filmed the prison scenes for the musical "Chicago" (2002).
