What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming was done simultaneously on 35mm film and in high-definition video.
  • Executive producer and casting director Drew Keffrey passed away in 1999, three years before filming began.
  • Some scenes are out of focus because no one thought to set the camera lens to the correct mode.
  • Filming took over six months. During this time, two cinematographers with their assistants and three actors left the project. As for the latter, they were replaced with other actors or their characters were completely removed from the script.
  • The role of the youngest character, Denny, went to Philip Haldiman, one of the oldest actors involved in the film.
  • During filming, the crew openly laughed at the chaos that reigned on set. From time to time, the operator would be overcome with such laughter that the camera would start to "jump".

  • Access to the set where "nudes" are filmed is usually closed or strictly limited. During the filming of a love scene involving Lisa and Johnny, access to the set was open. This was insisted upon by the director, producer, screenwriter, and actor Tommy Vaiso.
  • During the filming of party arguments and the episode where they "trash the apartment," Tommy Vaiso was taking cold medicine. His less-than-healthy condition and lack of sleep led to him looking convincingly drunk or high, in any case, struggling to think straight. In reality, this was the result of monstrous fatigue.
