Short description
A barbarian named Kull becomes ruler after defeating the old king in battle. In an effort to regain the throne, the former king's heirs resurrect Akivasha, a witch queen. However, Akivasha has plans of her own for the throne, and only Kull stands in the way.
What's left behind the scenes
- Filming took place in Croatia and Slovakia.
- Initially, the film was planned as "Conan the Conqueror," based on Robert E. Howard's story "The Hour of the Dragon," where Conan becomes king of Aquilonia. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger refused to participate in this film, and Kevin Sorbo, chosen as his replacement, did not want to play someone else's role. As a result, the intended trilogy remained unfinished. The script was rewritten, replacing Conan with another of Howard’s characters – Kull of Atlantis, and the film was renamed "Kull the Conqueror."
- While preparing for filming and rehearsing fight scenes, the lead actor Kevin Sorbo hit himself with a blunt sword and subsequently requested a rubber prop sword.
