Short description
Test space rockets exploding at liftoff and increased reporting of UFO sightings culminate in a direct attempt by alien survivors of a dead, extra-galactic civilization to invade Earth from impervious flying saucers, using ray-weapons of mass destruction.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on Donald E. Keyhoe's book "Flying Saucers from Outer Space" (1953).
  • The film was originally shot in black and white. A color version was created only in 2007.
  • Aliens use electronic protective shields, similar to those shown in the film "The War of the Worlds" (1953).
  • The film features a lot of documentary footage. For example, rocket crashes, a bomber explosion, and a nine-day meteorological disturbance.
  • The film shows the American space program "SkyHook" and the launches of the first artificial Earth satellites, but the first artificial Earth satellite was launched into orbit by the USSR only on October 4, 1957.
  • A colorized version of the film was created in 2007.
