Short description
Two thieves, who travel in elegant circles, try to outsmart each other and, in the process, end up falling in love.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Catherine Zeta-Jones was completely nude under a sheet in the scene where Sean Connery’s character sneaks into her room at night at the beginning of the film and conducts an interrogation.
  • Duarte Castle, the ancestral home of the MacLean clan, served as the location for Mac’s secret hideout. Once, this fortress, along with six others, was built by clan leaders on the west coast of Scotland. In the event of Vikings or Englishmen appearing at sea, signal fires were lit on the fortresses, warning the Scots of danger. Sean Connery himself comes from the MacLean clan on his mother’s side; Connery’s mother was born a MacLean.
  • The scene at the beginning of the film where Genevieve sneaked into Mac's room and left a Time magazine with a golden mask on the cover on his bed was removed. It can be seen without an audio track on the DVD. The film's director said that preview screenings made it clear that this scene slowed down the pace at the beginning of the film.
  • The Petronas Twin Towers, located in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, were at the center of the story. The 88-story, 452-meter skyscrapers were built in 5 years. Their construction took place from 1992 to 1997. The construction cost Malaysia $1.2 billion.
  • The main emergency exit is the so-called 'sky bridge', a distinctive feature of the Petronas Twin Towers. This bridge, 59 meters long and hanging at a height of 170 meters, connects the two towers at the 41st and 42nd floors. It took builders and installers 32 hours to erect this bridge at such a height.
  • The age difference between the actors in the film 'Entrapment', Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, is 39 years.
  • The street where Mac (Sean Connery) parked the car, waiting for Catherine Zeta-Jones's character while she was in the antique shop, is the same one as in the 2001 film 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'. Harry and Hagrid walked down this street on their way to the Leaky Cauldron.
  • In one episode, Sean Connery's character tells Catherine Zeta-Jones' character that she has 75 seconds. In the film "The Great Train Robbery" (1979), Connery's character told Donald Sutherland's character that he had 75 seconds to steal a key impression.
  • The trick on the ceiling beam in Duart Castle, where Catherine Zeta-Jones' character performs a backward somersault and then jumps from the beam onto an antique table, was done by the actress herself!
  • The film cost two million dollars less than the planned budget. Producer Ronda Tellifson attributes this to Sean Connery, who approached financial matters wisely. For example, during filming, Connery drove to the set himself in his own car, refusing the services of a driver, and instead of using private planes, he flew on regular commercial flights.
  • Initially, it was assumed that the grand theft in the film "Entrapment" would coincide with the transfer of Hong Kong under Chinese jurisdiction. Then, director John Amiel suggested moving it to the beginning of the new millennium.
  • At the beginning of the film, a secret code appears—1007, whose last three digits are 007 (the number belonging to the licensed-to-kill agent, James Bond). And the one indicates that Sean Connery was the first performer of the role of agent 007 on screen.
  • On the night of the millennium, as Mac and Jin drive to the World Bank, they synchronize their watches at 11:00 PM. Jin says that from that moment, every minute until midnight, the atomic clocks in New York will fall behind by a tenth of a second, giving them an extra 10 seconds to infiltrate the bank's security system. But every minute, 1/10 of a second per hour (60 minutes) gives them an extra 6 seconds, not 10.
