Deciding that the actors would benefit from getting to know each other better, director Ayan Mukherji made them meet in Chandigarh and travel together by car to the shooting location in Manali, rather than flying there separately. Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, and Aditya Roy Kapur did just that. Along the way, Ranbir Kapoor insisted they take a detour for a restaurant rumored to serve amazing chicken, and the 6-hour journey stretched to 14 hours.
