Short description
When a crass new-money tycoon's membership application is turned down at a snooty country club, he retaliates by buying the club and turning it into a tacky amusement park.

What's left behind the scenes

  • During the shooting spree staged by Aykroyd’s character in a prairie dog hole, one can notice, among other junk, plastic C-4 explosives shaped like various animals. Bill Murray’s character used it in the first film while also hunting a prairie dog.
  • Rodney Dangerfield was going to return in the second film as Al Czervik, but he declined the offer after screenwriters Harold Ramis and Peter Torok refused his request to make his own changes to the script. In fact, his role was played by Jackie Mason, albeit under the name Jack Hartunian.
  • In some trailers of the original “Caddyshack”, Chase’s line “Much better than ‘Caddyshack 2!’” was subsequently inserted.
  • The characters in the script for Robert Stack and Dan Aykroyd were named Mrs. Esterhaus and Mr. Sanderson, respectively – code names used by these characters in the film.
  • Sam Kinison was considered for one of the roles in the film, but left the project when his close friend Rodney Dangerfield refused to participate due to creative differences with the screenwriters. It is believed that Kinison was supposed to play Peter Blunt's lawyer, a role ultimately played by Randy Quaid.
  • Chevy Chase was the only member of the original "Bushwood Country Club" cast to agree to appear in the second film, a decision he later regretted. Producers tried to persuade Rodney Dangerfield to return, but according to him, he threw the script in the trash after reading it.
  • Some trailers for the original "Caddyshack" later included the words of Chevy Chase: "Much better than 'Caddyshack 2!'"
  • Chevy Chase was the only member of the original "Caddyshack" cast to agree to appear in the sequel, a decision he later regretted. Producers tried to persuade Rodney Dangerfield to return, but he reportedly threw the script in the trash after reading it.
