Short description
In the third and final episode of the trilogy, Fantômas imposes a head tax on the rich, threatening to kill those who do not comply.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Maharajda Kempury speaks fluent Russian during the meeting with Lord MacRashly.
  • It ranks 88th in attendance among foreign films in Soviet cinema distribution.
  • The 'face' of Walter Brown is the 'mask' of Lord Shelton, a proxy buyer of jewels from the film 'Fantômas,' and the 'face' of the gangster Giuseppe is the mask of Marquis de Rastelli from the film 'Fantômas Unleashed.' All of these characters are played by Jean Marais.
  • Despite the film repeatedly emphasizing that the final confrontation between Fantômas and his pursuers will take place at midnight, all the final scenes take place in daylight.
  • Filming of the movie took place from October 20 to December 28, 1966.
  • According to Milène Demonjo, who played Hélène, a film called "Fantômas in Moscow" was planned after this one, but it was never made, partly because Jean Maré (Fandor and Fantômas) grew tired of his name being listed second on posters after that of the established star Louis de Funès (who played Commissioner Jouv), and partly because the star status of the three actors in the leading roles entailed unaffordable fees.
  • Only the scenes that begin the film were shot in Scotland. Practically everything else was filmed in France – near the Rocade castle and the Fontainebleau forest.
