Short description
Mark wants to lose his virginity, but his girlfriend wants to wait. Unfortunately for both of them, a 400-year-old vampire Countess needs to turn a virgin into a vampire before Halloween in order to preserve her own youthful appearance, and when she finds Mark, she turns his life upside-down.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The band 3-Speed, who performed the film's title song, appeared in several scenes that did not make the final cut.
  • Morgan Fairchild turned down the role of the Countess.
  • Screenwriter Jeffrey House campaigned for Michael J. Fox for the role of Mark, but executive producer Samuel Goldwyn Jr. was convinced that Fox would never be a big screen star.
  • This is Jim Carrey's first film where he plays a leading role.
  • Screenwriter Jeffrey Hause advocated for Michael J. Fox for the role of Mark, but executive producer Samuel Goldwyn Jr. was convinced that Fox would never be a star on the big screen.
  • During the chase scene, when Robin, played by Karen Kopins, hits the vampire, she knocked out his fake teeth in one of the takes.
  • The audience at the preview screenings reacted so positively to Karen Kopins and her performance that, at the very last moment, it was decided to put her image on the movie posters.
  • One of the deleted scenes showed vampires eating cockroaches. Jim Carrey insisted on using real cockroaches in this scene. The actors received no extra pay for eating them.
